Tanna – the site of the famous movie of the same name – is an incredible island of customs and inspiring beauty.

The highlight of any visit to Tanna is Yasur Volcano. Your afternoon safari to Yasur will take you through many highland villages before arriving at the startling moonscape of Yasur’s ash plain. An exhilarating drive up the volcano’s slopes is followed by a 10-15 minute walk to the crater’s edge (dependent on volcano activity at the time). As the sun sets, the true power of the volcano becomes apparent as volcanic explosions ring in your ears and molten lava lights up the sky.  A truly unforgettable experience!

You can choose two other half day tours to round out your Tanna experience.  A 45 minute drive into the jungle in the Lowinio area, takes you to a ‘kastom’ village that practices a way of life that has not changed in centuries.  Or choose another village experience, where you will witness the dark art of black magic and learn about village life and Vanuatu’s ubiquitous kava, the hypnotic drug enjoyed throughout the archipelago. Nature-lovers will love our off-the-beaten trip to a magnificent 40 metre waterfall, where you can swim beneath its cascading waters, before continuing on to a spectacular and remote black sand surf beach on the east coast.  The final option for nature-lovers is a visit into the hills behind your accommodation to the world’s largest banyan tree, a stunning sight set among rainforest and food gardens.  Note that tour options may vary according to availability.  The Tanna Blue Cave can be booked as an optional extra.

Your accommodation is at Whitegrass Resort, in Ocean View Bures or Family Villas.
