WEDNESDAY Full Day Tour
Nguna Adventure
Experience one of Vanuatu’s outer islands through a half day trek and an afternoon snorkel, and support local communities who are conserving their reef and forest resources.
Itinerary
- 7AM pick-up from your accommodation in Port Vila
- Scenic transfer along the west coast to Emua Wharf
- 20 minutes boat ride to Nguna Island
- 8.45AM start half day walk: choice of Volcano Walk or Environment Walk
- Buffet lunch by the beach
- Snorkel the Nguna Marine Conservation Area
- Boat and bus transfer back to your accommodation in Port Vila
The Volcano Walk is a hard but rewarding walk as parts are steep and it can be hot. It takes 3 ½ hours on average. Once atop the highest of Nguna’s extinct volcanoes, Mt Taputaora (593m), take in sweeping views across the Shepherd Islands to the north, and south to Efate. The intriguing Environment Walk takes about 3 hours and is a good option for families. Explore a community conservation area at Nguna’s smallest village – a fascinating mixture of old forest, historic relics and community gardens. After the morning walk, enjoy a buffet lunch by the beach and then snorkel Nguna’s famous marine conservation area. Expect lots of fish, maybe the occasional turtle, and plenty of hard corals and small canyons and crevasses to explore.
